Meet Laura Clarke

Laura Clarke A close-up of a person wearing glasses with pink hair, light makeup, and a dark hoodie, looking at the camera.

Laura Clarke is a beadwork artist from Norway House Cree Nation, where she was born and raised.

She lives in the community with her husband, James Clarke, and their blended family of three children.

Laura comes from a long line of beadworkers, including her grandmother and several aunties who continue the tradition today. After experiencing a serious illness that forced her to step away from work, Laura turned to beading as a way to heal and reconnect with herself.

For Laura, beading became more than a creative outlet—it became her medicine. The peaceful process of creating something beautiful through beadwork has brought her strength and purpose. Every piece she creates is made with care, intention, and love.
